Full Description
One ditch and three pits containing pottery dating from a the 6th to the 11th century and some Roman black burnished ware. One pit was 1m in diameter and 0.46m deep, flat base with vertical sides filled with densely packed hearthstone and limestone overlying compacted charcoal. A large piece of rotary quernstone (Roman) was also recovered from the pit and 9 sherds of black burnished ware. Three largest sherds from a 6th to 9th century grass tempered vessel. Pottery from other features dated from the 9th to the 11th century. Several items of metalwork were found in the ditch and a pit (1)
