Full Description
Six apparently adult inhumations were found while laying water-mains in 1950 in Zigzag (now Verne Common) Road, on the slope E of Victoria Gardens. Two of these cists probably dating to the first half of the 2nd century AD were lying N-S with their heads to the N. The bodies had been compressed into short stone cists 3ft 4inches and 3ft 9 inches long. The cist to the N had a coarse ware jar and dish, the other had one coarse ware vessel. <1>
