Full Description
Pit-like features and a large number of flints concentrated at the western end of Field P suggesting a flint knapping area where prepared cores were brought and subsequently worked. Large quantities of Late Mesolithic cores, blades, flakes and spalls (1)
Area extended and four further Mesolithic features identified. The largest of these comprised a number of discontinuous pits. Two smaller pits were located to the south and a shallow gully-like feature was located to the west. Interpreted as irregular pits dug to extract suitable flint for knapping, a large quantity of unworked flint was observed in the fills. Cores, flakes, blades and spalls were found a short distance away (2)
