Summary
Moat remained open until about the time of Civil War when appreciable quantity of domestic refuse was tipped into it and the moat was allowed to fill with silts and dumps.

Full Description
Appreciable quantity of domestic refuse tipped into moat about the time of the Civil War after which moat allowed to fill with silts and dumps. Finds include clay tobacco pipes date to c. 1640-1660 and pottery finds consistent with this date, including imports from Italy and the Low Countries as well as local wares. Animal bone evidently kitchen waste. Also one ring, a hafted object and a small lead powder-holder for a musket (1)
