Full Description
Archaeological evaluation noted the presence of 'an extensive agricultural soil layer of variable depth across the whole of the site'. Archaeological features identified during evaluation trenching comprised a number of linear ditches and gullies and at least one probable pit. The pit was interpreted as evidence of former quarrying on site, the linear ditches as components of Bronze Age and Post-Medieval field systems. (1)
Areas of the site were excavated more fully during a subsequent phase of archaeological works which broadly confirmed these projections. (2)
No traces of settlement or funerary activity were identified from either period.
