Full Description

The extent of late-sixteenth to late-eighteenth century coastal change and natural 'reclamation' is evident at Little Sea, Studland. Woodward records that 'Studland Heath is greatly encreas'd in Quantity since the Old Survey was taken, the sea having left a deal of land since that time. The whole of Little Sea will be heath in a few years.' The 'Old Survey' Woodward was referring to is Treswell's Map of 1586. (1)
