Two peat pits are shown on Isaac Taylor’s map of 1770 (DCRO photocopy 1/1). They lay on the north side of the stream within an enclosed field. The site lies within a pasture enclosure called peat field in 1853 (D263/T1). On the ground there are excavations which may be the remains of peat pits. Visited 2/3/1988.
