Full Description

[Marginal] 'A' A large urn, 13" x 4 1/2" bounded by a ridge moulding & the rim ornamented with string impressions, and zigzag ornament of three slants, and two perforated handles, found near WEYMOUTH & now in the MEDHURST COLL. at the DORSET CO MUSEUM.

Also in the same collection from near Weymouth:
'B' Cinerary urn 5 1/2" x 4 3/4", slightly approaching the globular form with five small bosses.
'C' Cylindrical urn, now 11 3/4" x 10", none of the rim remains and there is no ornament. It has had three bosses.
'D' Cinerary urn, 9 1/2" x 7 1/2" with a cross hatched moulding. <1>

Mr Medhurst was excavating in Dorset c. 1845. No further information regarding the sites of these finds was obtained during field investigation. <2>

Three of the urns - A,B & C - were seen in the Dorset Museum.

Also in the same collection from near Weymouth:- B Cinerary urn 5 1/2 x 4 3/4, slightly approaching the globular form with five small bosses.
