An opencast quarry in production is sited 100m east of Sea Spray Cottage, the workings cover approximately 100 square metres. A similar area of grassed over opencast quarry pits lie 120m south-east of Sea Spray. No quarries are shown in this area on the 1891 or 1929 Ordinance Survey maps but both areas were in use by the 1960 edition. They were opened after 1946 because AP RAF CPE/UK/1821 3399 does not show them.
