Summary

Southbourne Pier was built for the Southbourne Pier Company in 1888. It was badly damaged by two storms in 1900-1 and was demolished in 1909.

Full Description

Southbourne Pier was built in 1888, to the design of Archibald Smith. It was 300 ft long. It opened in August 1888 and there were regular sailing between Bournemouth and Southbourne.

The pier, promenade and sea-wall were almost completely destroyed by two storms in December 1900 and January 1901. The pier was demolished in 1909.
