`Christchurch, 12th Dec: The WEMYSS, of Ipswich, for Plymouth, is on shore on Christchurch Ledge, but it is expected will be got off; crew saved. (2) `...is expected to become a wreck. (3) `...is discharging her cargo in a damaged state. (4)
Source (5) gives a date of loss as the month of DEC-1839. The place of loss is given as near St. Albans Head, and a text is quoted citing the award of a medal from the French government, which appears inappropriate for the loss of an English vessel and may therefore be a confusion with the AIMABLE MERE (900949).
