Summary

An English pilot vessel. She seems to have just put a boat out with two men who were about to put a pilot on board the german vessel, SS Elba. The Elba suddenly altered her course and ran into the pilot cutter, cutting her literally in two. Alarm sank immediately. This occurred on 18 November 1881, about 10 miles off the Needles.

Full Description

The Alarm was built in 1865. Master: I R Caws. Owner: G Greenham, Isle of Wight. She was run down at sea and sunk by collision with the SS ELBE. (1)

ALARM, in collision with the German steam ship ELBE, 10 miles west of the needles.(2)
