Full Description
The vessel lies in the general depth of 40 metres. (1) She was built in 1895 and was screw-driven, powered by a three-cylinder triple expansion engine. Two of her crew were lost (2) Ex-KIRKSTALL. (3)
She was torpedoed and sunk 5 miles south-east of Anvil Point by the German submarine UC-63... (4) The BARON GARIOCH was torpedoed by a submarine, two lives lost.(1)
Surveying History:
17-AUG-1981 Intensive search carried out for this wreck in an area of irregular contacts. Least echo sounder depth 36.5 in general depth 40m.(1) A glass oil lamp base and an inkwell base recovered from this wreck. (Droit A/1021).(7) 2 x 13lb shell cases recovered from this wreck. (Droit A/2686).(7) A pump and a brass box recovered from this wreck. (Droit A/3297)
