Full Description

This vessel was under tow of a steam tug in order to reach open water, when she encountered heavy seas, and the strong SE gale caused the master to signal his wish to return to Poole harbour. In turning, the tow line parted, and the ketch was blown ashore. The Poole lifeboat CITY MASONIC CLUB went to her assistance, putting eight lifeboatmen aboard to pump her out, but after five hours work she was still flooded and refused to float on the tide, and was abandoned. Her crew and a pilot were taken off, suffering severely from the cold and exposure. (1)(2)
