`Poole, 9th March: The CARL JOHAN, Werbroot, from Alicant to Gefle, was totally lost yesterday to the west of Christchurch Head. Part of the materials saved. (3) She ' ...was driven on shore and went to pieces immediately. The crew, consisting of six men and one boy, besides the captain and mate, were saved.' (5)

Sources (4) and (5) give the vessels name as CARL JOHN, the destination as Elsinore, a reported date of loss of 08- MAR-1824, and the place of loss as White Pits, Poole (where an unknown brig was lost at about the same time. This may in fact be a record of the same vessel.)
