Maritime record MWX2280 - Maud Mary

Said to be the last true sailing shipwreck on this Point, this 3-masted schooner drove ashore at Standfast Point (sic), about 50 yards off the beach, and went down on her port bilge and filled before breaking up. (3)

16-JAN-1940: reported to have broken up.

18-DEC-1959: ashore at Standfast Point (sic), in line with Old Harry Rock, about 50 yards off the beach and is down on port bilge and full of water.

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
