Full Description

Lost as a result of collision at 8.00pm with the Italian barque FRATELLI GAGNINO (sic). Some of the crew were saved by the SS EMPRESS OF WEYMOUTH, who landed them and returned to the scene, where they found the ships boat of the FERNCLIFF, which held the rest of the crew. (1)(3) Source (3) gives the place of loss as 9 miles SSE of Durlston Head, and that of the FRATELLI GAGGINO as 9 miles ESE of Durlston Head; the date of loss is also given as 21-SEP-1883.
