Full Description

LAT 20-JAN-1960: GLENMORE sank on Kimmeridge Ledge near St. Albans Head, close to wreck TREVEAL. GLENMORE lies inside highest part of TREVEAL which is visible 10 to 12ft above HW. TREVEAL lies on Kimmeridge Ledge in position bearing 291 degrees 1.05 miles from St. Albans Head CG signal station. (1)

Whilst salvaging quantities of jute from the wreck of the SS TREVEAL, the GLENMORE was swept onto part of the wreck where she stuck fast and commenced leaking, eventually sinking about noon, taking to the bottom a lot of valuable standard diving equipment. (2)(3)

`The TREVEAL caused two other wrecks. Firstly, a drifter being used to salvage her cargo of jute sank after striking the wreck. And later, in 1922, the GLENMORE, a British steamship also hit the wreck and went down nearby. (4)
