Full Description

`Carrying a valuable general cargo, went ashore on the eastern part of Kimmeridge Ledge. The crew were saved by the coastguard and taken to the station at St. Albans Head. The steam tug COMMODORE went to the scene where the Lloyds Agent found her on the rocks with a hole in her bottom and full of water. The Receiver of Wreck has taken charge of some cargo which was brought into Weymouth harbour. (1)(3) `Sale of Wreck. Mr. Sydney Milledge and Son, offer for sale at the Crown Hotel the hull, machinery etc. of the ARKLOW...condition of sale, no efforts should be made to get her off for 14 days so that cargo can be saved, and if broken up, 48 hours notice to be given to the salvers. The opening bid was £20, the wreck eventually sold for £190 to Mr. Brice, of Glasgow. The cargo will be auctioned at a later date.' (1)(3)
