Full Description
The Afron was built in 1908, a 227 ton trawler. It was hired by the Admiralty in 1914, as armed trawler No. 134. The trawler hit a mine on 30 April 1917 with the loss of one officer and nine naval ratings (1).
Source (4) describes a wreck they have named the Arfon, which matches the description of the Afron. The wreck site was discovered around 1999. The wreck lies in 35m and faces south-west (4) Seabed is muddy sand and gravel (3).
