Built: 1898 Builder: J and W Francis Where Built: Milford Owner: W J Graham Master: C Marshall Crew: 4 Date of Loss Qualifier: A Drove ashore near Blacknor Point. The wreck was sold on the rocks. (1)(2) Ketch, VERBENA wrecked near Blacknor Point, Portland.(4) Lost in a W by S 4, 1.5 miles west of Portland.(5) Additional sources:: LR.1898-9 No.13(V)(Supp);

The Verbena was on her way from Saundersfoot in Pembrokshire to Weymouth with a cargo of culm (finely ground coal), when she was driven ashore at Blacknor Point on Portland on the 22nd July 1903. It proved to be impossible to get the vessel of the rocks, so she was sold where she lay, and broken up on the rocks.
