'Poole, Aug. 22 - On Saturday morning last the brig, SIR HOME POPHAM, of 110 tons, G Clements, master, laden with wine, sugar, lemons, and cocoa, from Lisbon to Antwerp, struck on the rocks off St. Alban's Head, in the Isle of Purbeck. The passengers and crew were all saved, as was also a part of the cargo. It was impossible, however, owing to the very high sea, to get the vessel off before she became a wreck the following morning.' (4)

'On Tuesday the 26th August, 1817, will be sold by public auction, at the Old Antelope Inn, Poole, at three o' clock, about 200 boxes of lemons, 12 boxes of oranges, and 27 bags of almonds in the shells, saved from the wreck of the SIR HOME POPHAM, George Clements, master, from Lisbon, bound to Antwerp.'
