Summary

Remains of the 1889 wreck of an English cargo vessel which stranded near Langton on her passage from Venice for London with a general cargo. Constructed of iron in 1881, she was a steam-powered vessel. Part of her panelling is said to have been inserted in the Golden Lion Hotel in Weymouth. Status: Site

Full Description

Ex-VERCINGETORIX. Two of the passengers were stowaways. Richly carved timber panels from the saloon of the wreck at one time graced the walls of Weymouth's Golden Lion Hotel. (1)(4)
