Full Description
Date of Loss Qualifier: A `Bridport, 24th Nov: I have to inform you of the following losses from the gale of yesterday...I am also informed of the total loss of a large ship further to the eastward [of Abbotsbury]... (1) Stranded/Total Loss. (2) During the great gale of 23-NOV a ship of 500 tons burden was seen to go down near Weymouth. (3)
The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
