Full Description

`Went ashore on the Mixen, at the entrance to Weymouth, the crew having mistaken the channel leading into the port. The accident happened at high water and they have been unable to get her off. Weymouth Council have voted to take some action to prevent this happening again since vessels quite frequently mistake the entrance. Sources (1) and (2) give the name of the vessel as LE FOI, which is a grammatically incorrect rendering of the French name.

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
