Built: 1831 Master: Clement Crew: 15 Crew Lost: 7(2) Date of Loss Qualifier: A `Sale of French barque on Monday 27-DEC-1852, consisting of one part of the vessel only, on the beach near Langton Preventive Station; the other part went ashore at Osmington, of which a sale will be held the following day. She was en route Havre de Grace to the coast of Africa with general cargo. (1)(2) `...came ashore on the Portland Beach last night and has become a total wreck; 3 men and 4 boys drowned. (3) 16-DEC-1852, NOUVELLE LOIRE OF Havre de Grace, a barque of 252 tons, insured for £1500 came ashore on Portland Beach and instantly became a total wreck with the loss of 3 men and four boys who were drowned.(4)(5)(6) Additional sources: Shipping and Mercantile Gazette 18-DEC-1852
