Full Description

`A vessel was totally lost with all the crew, on Tuesday, near Portland. She is supposed to have been a foreign brig, built with fir, and in ballast. (1-2) `A vessel was lost on Tuesday night, with all her crew, opposite to Langton, about 12 miles east of Bridport. Some bales of nankeen, together with several gold rings and dollars, have been taken up; and five of the crew, supposed to be Spaniards or Portuguese, were washed on shore. The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
