Maritime record MWX1681 - Ornen

Was involved in collision in the channel possibly some distance offshore at 5.30am, when she was run into by the barque KASSA (possibly spelt KAJA), which struck her on the starboard side of the bow, making two holes in her hull. The KASSA left her entire bowsprit and headgear on board the other vessel. The crew of the ORNEN abandoned her when she filled with water and the schooner JOHN MORRISON of Cardiff picked them up from open boats and landed them at Portland.
