Full Description

`...on Sunday, a violent storm raged over the coastline. It commenced in the night and came from the SSW veering SW. The coastguard assembled with their apparatus when the wind went to the west. The Tophill coastguard reported a vessel trying to beat down channel against the wind and that she was labouring heavily. When clear of the Bill and the Race at 2.30pm, she was seen to settle down and her crew climb into the rigging. No boats could be lowered in such weather, and the vessel was seen to founder.
