The vessel was carrying granite for the construction of the Needles lighthouse. She foundered at night off Portland, crew saved. (1)(2)

`LYMINGTON, 7th July: A punt, 10 feet long, marked inside AMELIA, of Lyme, Samuel Searle, containing a leg of mutton quite fresh, a few steaks cut from it, a cull, a ladder, pump hook, empty water keg, and a small tackle, has been picked up by the MARIA, Hincks, arrived off Jack. Weymouth, 7th July: The AMELIA, of Lyme, Southcombe, from Plymouth for the Needles lighthouse, with granite, foundered off Portland last night; crew saved.
