Summary

1828 wreck of craft, possibly English, which appears to have foundered off Bridport, as evidenced by the wreckage washed ashore at Bridport. Constructed of wood, she was a sailing vessel.

Full Description

`Bridport, 22nd Jan. Yesterday and this morning, part of the head rail of a vessel, about 7 feet long, with Rock upon it, head of water cask marked Draper, a bucket marked Harrich, and sundry other pieces of wreck, have been washed on shore. (1) Harrich may indicate the port of registration as Harwich. Master: Draper? Date of Loss Qualifier: R

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
