Full Description

Stranded/Total Loss (2) `On the 30th ult. [30-APR-1751] sailed from Bridport the REINE, Gabriel John le Braze master, from Morlaix for Dunkirk, who on the 25th of March last was drove ashore near Bridport, and had like to have been lost. (3)

Source (2) reconstructs the date as 1750 (Old Style) and quotes an incorrect reference from LL.31.03.1750 (Old Style), No.1604, in which there is no mention of this vessel. Master: Gabriel John [Jean?] le Braze Date of Loss Qualifier: A

The building date for this vessel is an estimate based on an average age at wrecking of twenty years. This average is derived from those vessels wrecked on the Dorset coast whose age at wrecking is known.
