Full Description

Having discharged her cargo the master, impatient to leave, sailed out of Bridport Harbour against the advice of the local pilots and was driven up on the east beach. The Coastguard rocket apparatus enabled the crew to be rescued but the vessel was a total loss in the heavy swell. (1)(2)

13-MAR-1923 The master of the Swedish ketch ALLIOTH, impatient to leave after discharging her timber cargo, sailed out against the advice of the pilots and was driven on to the east beach. The Coastguard rocket apparatus was used to establish a rope communication by which the crew came ashore.(3)
