Summary

World War Two slit trenches situated alongside footpath no.16 near ventilator and on the other side of the stone wall. Both are close together on the edge of the cliff, one was used to store rifle grenades. The trenches covered the landing places on the East Weares. Construction took place in 1940-41. A field visit in 1997 found that the trenches were in a very dangerous location and condition was hard to assess.

Full Description

Two slit trenches close together on the edge of the cliff: one was to store rifle grenades (Mills Bombs). From this position landing places on the East Weares could be covered. Slit trenches are in a very dangerous location and condition is hard to assess.
