Summary

A World War Two slit trench recorded at The Grove, north of Borstal Sports Ground. It was one of four slit trenches positioned to stop the enemy getting to the top of the island via the Incline Road, this being the only road up from the Naval Base on the east side of the island. The trench was constructed in 1940-41. A field visit in 1997 located no traces of the trench.
