Summary

A World War Two rifle pit located to the east of Admiralty Quarry, Portland. It was constructed in 1940-41 and probably positioned to protect the original 3 inch gun site and camp located to the east of the quarry, below the glacis of the Verne Citadel. A field visit in 1997 found the site no longer extant.

Rifle pit probably positioned to protect the original 3in gun site and camp. [Informant: Gordon Black, resident at 'The Grove' during WW2]. Located east of the Admiralty Quarry and below the glacis of the Verne Citadel. <1-3>
