Summary

A World War II tank trap blocking the exit road from Kimmeridge slipway, Kimmeridge Bay. The tank trap comprises twelve anti-tank blocks constructed of reinforced conglomerate concrete and measuring approximately 4 feet square with a 2 feet high apex. The blocks were built in 1940-41. A field visit in 1997 found that all but one of the blocks were in a good condition.

Full Description

12 anti-tank blocks blocking the exit road from Kimmeridge slipway. All but one of the blocks are in good condition. Constructed of reinforced conglomerate concrete approximately 4ft square with 2 ft apex. Built in horizontal bands 6ins-7ins wide. Approximately 4ft spacing between each block. Block originally positioned in centre of road, now found on edge of road 15 yards from other blocks. Blocks built on 2ft thick base which protrudes 1ft around each. Nine anti-tank cubes were identified on aerial photographs <1> and were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
