Summary

A small circular pillbox (Type 25 pillbox) situated on the cliff edge. A circular structure is visible at NGR SY 86624 80350 on aerial photographs, located on the cliffs to the south-east of Flower's Barrow hillfort, and is considered likely to be the remains of this pillbox.

Full Description

Type 25 pillbox, situated on the cliff edge. Dimensions, 9ft diameter. 3 embrasures on W edge entrance. Corrugated iron sheet and concrete construction. Unusual embrasure design, having straight edge on one side but angled edge on other (with DRAWING).Overlooking Worbarrow Bay, halfway up W slope towards Lulworth. <1-3>

A circular structure is visible at NGR SY 86624 80350 on aerial photographs <4> located on the cliffs to the south-east of Flower's Barrow hillfort. It is considered likely to be the remains of the Type 25 Second World war pillbox described above. A trackway leading to this site is likely to be associated with it. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
