Monument record MWX1428 - Second World War pillbox, Ringstead, Osmington

A pillbox located on a hillside to the north of Ringstead and visible on aerial photographs. It is pillbox located 200 yards from the Ringstead Bay Road, on a hillside commanding the approach up the valley road and overlooks RAF Ringstead Radar Station. The pillbox was constructed in 1940-41 and is of concrete and brick. A field visit in 1995 found the structure to be in a good condition.

The pillbox is visible on aerial photographs <4> and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
