Full Description
Remains of a type 25 pillbox on the beach below eroding cliffs. It has been broken into two major sections which lie approx. 20ft apart. The largest section has had its top section broken away from above the bottom of the embrasures. Walls are 12ins thick, and the structure has an internal diameter of approx. 6ft. Pillbox was constructed on a 9ins thick concrete base. <1-3>
The pillbox is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs of Ringstead beach taken in 1946 <4>. It is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
