Full Description
Thought to have been a round pillbox. Land slippage in this area has obliterated any remains. <1>
A hexagonal structure, approximately 2.9m in diameter, is visible on aerial photographs of Nothe Gardens taken in 1947 <3>. It is considered likely to be the site of the Second World War pillbox described above. Its hexagonal appearance suggests it could be a Type 22 pillbox. It was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). This feature is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
