Summary

Second World War pillbox with only base and remains of walls to see. A hexagonal structure is visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis taken in 1946, located on the shoreline east of Ferrybridge. It is considered likely to be the remains of the Second World War Type 22 pillbox described above.

Only base and remains of walls to see. [Informant: Lt. Graham Matthews, RNAS Osprey helicopter pilot].On the shoreline E of Ferry Bridge, Portland Harbour. (1)

A hexagonal structure is visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis taken in 1946 <4>, located on the shoreline east of Ferrybridge (NGR SY 66997 76615). It is considered likely to be the remains of the Second World War Type 22 pillbox described above. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as a ruined structure on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project <5>.
