Monument record MWX1359 - Second World War battery observation post, North-Eastern breakwater, Portland

Second World War battery observation post. A semi-circular structure surrounding an inner circular feature are visible at this location on aerial photographs of the south-east end of Portland's North-Eastern Breakwater. It is considered likely this could be the remains of the Second World War battery observation post described above. It is possible this structure may have also been reused or modified during the Second World War.

A semi-circular structure surrounding an innner circular feature are visible on aerial photographs of the south-east end of Portlands's North Eastern Breakwater <4-5>. It is considered likely this could be the remains of the Second World War battery observation post described above. It is possible this structure may have also been reused or modified during the Second World War. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are still visible at this location on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
