Summary

Second World War coast artillery battery, consisting of two French 75mm artillery pieces. A group of buildings, structures and earthworks are visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis, taken in the 1940s. It is possible they could be features associated with the battery described above.

Full Description

Second World War coast artillery battery, consisting of two French 75mm artillery pieces. Located to the west of the A354 behind Tod's, Wyke Regis. The site had been demolished by 1999. <1-3>

A group of buildings, structures and earthworks are visible on aerial photographs of Wyke Regis, taken in the 1940s <4-5> located at NGR SY 66397 76515. It is possible they could be features associated with the Second World War battery described above. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
