Summary

A hexagonal stucture is visible on aerial photographs and Lidar imagery, located on the coast just to the south-west of Castle Hill Farm. It is considered likely to be the site of a Type 22 pillbox associated with Second World War military activity in this area. The pillbox was built in 1940-41, is hexagonal in plan and constructed of reinforced concrete. A field visit in 1992 found the structure to be in a good condition.

A hexagonal stucture is visible on aerial photographs <4> and Lidar imagery <5>, located on the coast just to the south-west of Castle Hill Farm (NGR SY65715 77024). It is considered likely to be the site of a Type 22 pillbox associated with Second World War military activity in this area. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
