Summary

A hexagonal stucture is visible on aerial photographs, located on the coast just to the south-west of Chesil Beach Holiday Park. It is considered likely to be the site of a Type 22 pillbox associated with Second World War military activity in this area.

Hexagonal type 22 pillbox. [Shown on OS 1:2500 sheet SY 6676 (1959)].Type 22 pillbox with external blast wall - an L-shaped roofed 'porch' structure. Brick red brick shuttering. The pillbox and the 'porch' are now separate, perhaps owing to subsidence.By the shore at Ferry Bridge, W of Portland Road, East Fleet.

A hexagonal stucture is visible on aerial photographs <4-5> located on the coast just to the south-west of Chesil Beach Holiday Park (NGR SY66340 76322). It is considered likely to be the site of a Type 22 pillbox associated with Second World War military activity in this area. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
