Summary

A World War II type 22 pillbox situated on south side of Limekiln Hill, West Bexington. The pillbox was constructed in 1940-41 and is a standard type 22 brick-walled pillbox, with walls 19 inches thick, 7 feet 6 inches long and a reinforced concrete roof. A field visit in 1998 found the structure to be partly demolished. The pillbox is visible on aerial photographs and was digitally plotted for the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project

Full Description

Assumed to be a type 22 pillbox, situated on S side of Limekiln Hill with field of fire S to beach. Brick-shuttered. with PLAN drawn on form. Standard type 22 brick-walled pillbox, with walls 19ins thick and approx. 7ft 6ins long. Reinforced concrete roof. Trunk of elder bush is growing through large hole in roof. The roof is split and corners broken, with brickwork exposed, but stable.Labour In Vain Farm, Limekiln Hill, West Bexington. <1-3>
