'(58) House with shop, Nos. 23, 23A (Plate 94), is of three storeys with cellars and attics; the front has stucco dressings. The earliest part of the building is a brick wing behind the W. part of the house, built probably at the end of the 17th century (plan p. 120). The front range was completely rebuilt in 1735, the date on the lead rainwater heads; it was then two storeys high and the third storey was added c. 1820–30; at the same time a short wing was added behind the E. part of the house.
