Full Description

(Centred at SY 587936) Field system plotted from air photographs. <1>

Lynchets immediately S. of COWLEAZE WITHY bed and 1/4 mile N.W. of church, form seven terraces on a N. slope. <2>

In the extreme S. of the area, E. of Compton Barn, a number of spread and parallel field banks run in an SE-NW direction down the steep NW slope of the combe. Pronounced, parallel strip lynchets are S. of COWLEAZE WITHY BED. Elsewhere the lynchets are widely spaced and less well defined, but are probably all of Md. origin. See AP/CPE/UK/2431/4146. <3>
