Monument record MDO921 - Prehistoric field system on North Hill, Chilfrome

The fragmentary remains of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery on North Hill. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.

A and B: Very poorly defined field banks and lynchets under grass.
C: Only in this area is the system pronounced and there are scattered grass covered lynchets which average 1.3m high. They appear to be of IA/RB type. <2>

The fragmentary remains of an extensive Iron Age/Rb field system are visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery on North Hill <4-6>. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project, they are probably a continuation of the field system described in MDO42160.
